We are currently looking for a Relief Full Time Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Counselling & Treatment Clinician to join the Mental Health and Substance Use team based out of the Lansdowne Centre in Kamloops, B.C.

This relief position is until July 25, 2025 or the return of the incumbent.

What will you work on?

This position is for the Substance Use Counselling team running a day treatment group and 1:1 caseload.

The Counselling & Treatment Clinician functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons with serious acute mental health problems and / or problematic substance use issues have access to timely, responsive, evidence based short term treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services. The Counselling & Treatment Clinician provides, at the advanced practice level, assessment, treatment, service coordination, and as required, urgent response to the most complex clients, frequently with co-occurring disorders, who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Counselling & Treatment Clinician functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Scheduling Information:

Shirt times are from 08:30 to 16:30, 12:00 to 20:00 hours. M/Tue/W/F 8:30-16:30 Thursday 12:00-20:00 hours.

Lansdowne Centre is one of Interior Health’s Mental Health Centres which provide many services including adult community support, adult short-term assessment and treatment, community residential programs, geriatric programs, crisis intervention, day and outpatient programs, addictions counselling, concurrent disorders services, group therapy, peer support, and after-hours mental health support.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

• Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.
• Two years’ recent related experience in an alcohol and drug treatment environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
