What will you work on?

The Mental Wellness Clinician functions as a member of the Primary Health Care team. The Clinician provides short term clinical practice and interventions relating to treatment, and/or, consultation and referral for clients experiencing chronic disease, mild to moderate mental health conditions, depression and anxiety, and challenges affecting achievement of their health goals pertaining to lifestyle choices. These short terms interventions may include CBT, DBT, psycho-dynamic individual therapies, supportive counselling, psycho-education interventions, or other evidence-based treatment modalities. The Clinician is responsible for working with the Primary Care providers and team to recognize and address psychological symptoms and conditions using applicable evidence-based approaches to meet short-term behavioural needs of clients.

Some responsibilities include developing behavioral health skills in integrated care teams, coordinating care, making referrals to specialized services, and leading case conferences. The role involves utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, promoting client independence through a bio-psycho-social model, and participating in discharge planning for continuity of care. It also includes assessing and treating psychological disorders, developing treatment plans, providing crisis intervention, and supporting MHSU issues across all age groups. Additionally, the role contributes to quality assurance projects, compiles statistical data for research, and engages in public relations to promote behavioral health awareness and community collaboration. Other duties include maintaining client records and responding to immediate referrals to ensure client stabilization.

Scheduling Information:

Shifts times are from 09:00 to 17:00, 09:00 to 16:00 hours. Days of work are Tues 9-5, Weds 9-4, Thurs 9-5.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

Three (3) years recent related experience working with various community-based health and human services, adults with complex multiple health care disabilities and working with populations suffering from mild to moderate mental health conditions such as chronic disease, primary care, geriatrics, community health, behavior, and human development.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
