Position Summary
Interior Health is seeking a permanent full time Rural Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Clinician for the Merritt Mental Health - Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT) team.

What will you work on?


As the successful candidate, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, whose purpose is to ensure that adults and elderly persons with serious mental disorders and/or substance use problems and co-occurring impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life, have access to responsive, sensitive and relevant assessment and treatment services. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use disorders, substance dependence and concurrent disorders. The primary duties include, at the advanced practice level, intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, short term individual and group psychotherapy, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers, and the coordination of services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.

Shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.

Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid BC driver’s license.
