Job Description

As a Junior Buyer, you will support our Category Managers with the strategy and development of product assortment to maximize sales and profitability of your designated portfolio. The position also includes close coordination with key teams and working on several projects at a time including planning campaigns, contract negotiations, inventory management, sales forecasting and digital strategy.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Product Category Management, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Be the expert for your portfolio through understanding market trends, competitor analysis, and consumer needs
  • Build product line assortment, forecast sales mix and create pricing strategy under the direction of a Category Manager
  • Manage all the stages of the product life cycle (conception, product development, launch, and phaseouts)
  • Maximize profitability and sales aligned with your financial targets
  • Identify growth and savings opportunities
  • Manage demand and promotional planning to ensure an optimal inventory level
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure your category success (including planning, marketing, e-commerce, and store operations)

Sales and Marketing Management, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Work with Marketing team for all campaigns, ensuring optimal representation of your product portfolio in all executions
  • Select the best products for each campaign and determine the optimal sales price
  • Evaluate and optimize campaigns based on performance results
  • Work cross-functionally with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure best display in-store to attract, engage consumers and improve customers experience
  • Partner with e-commerce team to create content online and drive more sales

What do you bring to the role?

  • Experience with measuring instruments; knowledge of materials, especially furniture is a plus
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized with efficient work ethic
  • Advanced user of MS Office
  • Must be resourceful and well organized with an ability to work on multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills

Compensation: Generally, the hiring range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.

Qualifications
  • Excel skills and database knowledge with the ability to create reports and analyze statistics (V-Look ups, Pivot Tables, Formulas, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Is a self-motivated individual, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork, team building, and project coordination skills
  • Builds and maintains lasting relationships with key internal/external business partners.
  • Is adaptable and able to work in an environment with conflicting and changing priorities
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in retail buying or related field

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred

Additional Information

Physical demands that are required include mobility (walking, standing, climbing, bending, etc.) and manual material handling (lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, etc.). Movement of product by use of ladders and stock pickers is required.
