Khalsa Secondary School is seeking candidates for one English and Career Education Teacher position.

Khalsa Secondary School is a faith based school located on 10589 124 Street. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We have just completed our first year of MYP candidacy and are looking to seek our IB authorization in the fall of 2024. We are also an AP Level 2 school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities! Our teachers are supported, have their own classroom and have a prep in each semester.

Currently, we have one English and Career Education Teacher opening for the new 2024-2025 school year starting as soon as possible. We recognize North American teaching experience.

Humanities - 1 block

Career Education 9 - 4 blocks

Career Education 10 - 3 blocks

Salary: Starting salary of $61,500/year (over 10 months).

*Other salary benefits are available for this position

*Only offered to CoQ teachers or teachers who have a completed application with

the Teacher Certification Branch (BC) for a CoQ

**Teaching experience in Canada is recognized for a possible higher starting

salary for CoQ teachers

**Duties:**

- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum

- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material

- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment

- Assess student progress and provide feedback

- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience

- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events

**Experience:**

- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field

- BC teaching certification

- Proven experience teaching Humanities and Career Education

- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively

- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues

- Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles

**Skills:**

- Proficient in proofreading educational materials

- Classroom management expertise

- Effective communication and writing skills

- Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus

- Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently
