We are actively seeking a First Mate to join the crew of one of our tugs working in Eastern Canada and assigned to a variety of projects, such as barge or dredge mobilization, vessel escort, oversized marine transportation, etc.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:

  • Implement the Captain’s directives and assist him in the safe operation of the vessel.
  • Plan and manage vessel’s operations.
  • Plan vessel maintenance operations.
  • Review weather records and local navigation conditions.
  • Establish the tug’s geographical position and speed using navigation instruments.
  • Maneuver the tug according to the established route and schedule, and monitor its stability at the request of the Captain.
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

 

OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE HAS:

  • Watchkeeping Mate certificate, Watchkeeping Mate, Near Coastal certificate or Chief Mate 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic certificate
  • Valid Marine Medical certificate issued by Transport Canada
  • Certificates of Proficiency (CoP):
    • STCW Basic Safety
    • MED Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats
    • Advanced Fire Fighting
  • General Operator Certificate (GOC)
  • One (1) year of experience in ship maneuvers
  • Three (3) years of experience as a Chief Officer (asset)
  • Organizational and leadership skills
  • Languages: advanced level in French and intermediate level in English, spoken and written.
