The Senior Manager, Subcontractor Risk Management, reporting to the Senior Director of Business Operations, is a newly created role responsible for implementing the strategic direction of the subcontractor risk management program of the Construction group. The Subcontractor Risk Management team supports the Operations project teams by analyzing and evaluating subcontractor risk profiles. This role will expand the subcontractor risk management function, lead a team of risk professionals, and ensure the execution of strategic objectives supporting operational goals and risk mitigation strategies.

This position provides strategic leadership to ensure services meet business units’ risk management goals while driving initiatives that support prequalification programs, risk procedures, and the implementation of the Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) program. The role is accountable for overseeing SDI-related tools and procedures and, delivering measurable results that have a meaningful impact on risk mitigation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new processes, tools and procedures to optimize subcontractor risk management function, meeting service level agreements with Operations and ensuring the team builds and maintains strong relationships with subcontractors.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to the Subcontractor Risk Management team by identifying priorities, overseeing workload distribution, and tracking team performance to ensure deliverables align with business goals.
  • Oversee the processing, evaluation, and rating of subcontractor prequalification information, ensuring compliance with risk management requirements and confidentiality agreements, and manage documentation and reporting to the Surety Broker and Insurance carrier.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to align risk management practices while collaborating with project teams and subcontractors with tact and professionalism.
  • Present key performance metrics and program updates to executive and operational leaders, monitor program metrics and identify areas of risk or opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver training on subcontractor risk management and SDI policies to the project team, subcontractors, owners and internal teams to promote a culture of risk awareness and compliance.
  • Oversee the performance of the Subcontractor Risk Management program, ensuring positive contributions to Operations and addressing challenges through innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in underwriting, financial analysis, risk management, or subcontractor risk management, preferably within the commercial construction industry (SDI, surety, etc.).
  • Exceptional consultative, advisory, and communication skills for collaboration with subcontractors, project teams, and executives.
  • Proven experience leading teams and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or Economics, with strong financial analysis, accounting, and reporting skills.
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills, with high accuracy in managing large data volumes and proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, etc.).

Work Conditions:

  • This role is hybrid, requiring one to three days a week in the office

Compensation

$126,000 - $173,250 Annually

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
