You are a Coordinator supporting the Estimating team with expertise in pipeline projects. As a key member of the Estimating and Proposals department, you will play a crucial role in providing assistance to the Senior Estimators in developing accurate and timely estimates for pipeline projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in pipeline estimating and a thorough understanding of the industry. Responsibilities will include supporting the analysis of project requirements, assisting with cost analysis, and contributing to the development of detailed proposals specifically for pipeline projects. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure are essential for success in this role. Essential Responsibilities

  • Review technical, specifications, scope of work documents and all other bid related documents to identify all required work activities, define sub-contract and material requirements
  • Develop estimate plan to ensure technical approach, set up, format, level of detail and required organization is planned for
  • Review bid requirements and liaise with functional support to define project indirect requirements
  • Responsible for material take offs identifying contractor supply and verifying client supplied items
  • Responsible to define quantities for all estimate items, build up resources on a crew-by-crew basis from first principles, meeting the requirements of all scoped activities and adjust resourcing for variance in productivities
  • Review bid documentation and develop supplier and or vendor enquiries, including detailed technical scope and commercial requirements
  • Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and where necessary enter into correspondence with suppliers to bring quotations in line with the project specification, scope and contract requirements
  • Identify potential risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions
  • Manage bid stage project risk register and as required and coordinate bid stage risk meetings
  • Produce project cashflow, understanding client payment requirements and internal governance position
  • Preparation of technical bid documents including exceptions, deviations, or clarifications to construction and or material specifications and all other bid documentation
  • Review contracts and interpret any cost impacts for the project
  • Meet bid deadlines and customer presentation requirements
  • Review estimates/proposals to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformity to functional process
  • Participate in the production and presentation of estimates/proposals to corporate management and or clients
  • Assist Proposal & Estimating Manager with setup, documentation and change administration
  • Assist in resolving estimating matters during contract negotiations and execution, as required
  • Collaborate with other functions, engineering firms, and vendors to enhance project success

Qualifications

  • (Mechanical, Civil or Structural) Engineering degree, or graduate of technical diploma program, and/or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • 8-10 years of experience in construction or estimating roles within the contractor space
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, material and construction specifications, and subcontracts
  • Understanding of Estimating and Project Management theories, methodologies, and industry practices
  • Ability to operate various scheduling software including; Primavera P6
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Project)
  • Proficient experience with InEight Estimate and/or TILOS would be an asset
