We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Traffic Superintendent to lead the coordination and management of all traffic control operations on our ongoing Infrastructure project. In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient movement of traffic around construction sites, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards. You’ll supervise and mentor a team of traffic control personnel, while also collaborating closely with project managers, contractors, and local authorities to develop and implement traffic management plans.

Your keen attention to detail, ability to problem-solve, and proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential traffic-related issues will ensure that the project runs smoothly and safely. With your leadership and expertise, you’ll help maintain a steady flow of traffic, reduce disruptions, and keep our teams and the public safe.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct all Traffic Control Personnel on site and report to the Traffic Manager

  • The implementation of the project’s Transportation Management Plan & Construction Maintenance Program

  • The implementation and maintenance of the project Traffic Accommodation Plans & Strategies. Including but not limited to signage, delineation, traffic realignment, pavement marking installation/ removal

  • Supervise the day-to-day traffic and maintenance activities. And ensure staff are performing their duties competently and safely in accordance with the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Ledcor’s policies and procedures

  • Create daily work activities schedules, assigning required resources (labour, equipment and subcontractors) and tracking progress

  • Coordinate daily traffic control tasks with other disciplines

  • Perform daily site inspections and complete daily logs

  • Ensure corrective actions from the patrols and inspections are completed

  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to respond to and follow up on requests, inquires and complaints of the public

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in traffic control or roadway construction

  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience in traffic control operations

  • In depth knowledge of Edmonton Manual of Temporary Traffic Control & Traffic Accommodation in Work Zones manual

  • Ability to read, interpret, and implement Traffic Accommodation Plans and Traffic Accommodation Strategies

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and set priorities

  • Alberta Temporary Traffic Control Train the Trainer, an asset

  • Flagger Train the Trainer, an asset

  • Experience using MS Office, and an aptitude for learning various computer systems

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with other disciplines, subcontractors, and field crews
