Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Lee Valley Customs Coordinator is working closely with our Customs Broker to ensure timely and accurate accounting of Lee Valley and Veritas imports. In addition, the Customs Coordinator will be responsible for the preparation of all Lee Valley and Veritas exports to distributors, customers and vendors worldwide as well as the timely clearance of good coming across the border by land air and sea.
You will:
• Obtain commercial invoices and free trade certificates from suppliers/carriers for submission to customs broker and accounting;
• Track customs cleared shipments and update internal supply chain daily;
• Prepare and Process B2 adjustment claims with CBSA as necessary;
• Process new products using HS Tariff Classification;
• Process monthly Customs K84 Duties and Taxes;
• Process export documentation for all international shipments;
• Process freight quotes;
• Process Transportation Analyst with freight invoice verification;
• Other duties and projects as assigned by Manager
• Process Reno shipments for US customs preclearance – weekly;
• Process shipments and prepare export declarations / waybills;
• Process tariff and duty requests for Category Management/Pricing;
We'd like you to have:
• College Diploma in Customs from an accredited institution and/or 1-3 years of related experience.
• Degree in Transportation Analytics/Logistics/Business/Customs and Border Services
• Working knowledge of Canada’s Free Trade Agreements; 2020 Incoterms
• Ongoing knowledge base, must know where to find updates and changes in federal legislation and regulations;
• Full working knowledge and understanding of the internal process of Lee Valley to accurately estimate, know points of influence and what departments to involve for what actions (takes about 8 months to be fully functional);
• Full working knowledge and understanding of area of specialization. Must interpret and apply knowledge of established principles and theories to adapt to a variety of situations.
• Proficient Excel skills.
