Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Production, the Production & Maintenance Foreman manages and coordinates the operations and also manages a maintenance team while ensuring that productivity, product quality and occupational health and safety requirement. Will be responsible for one or more team leaders to ensure the smooth running of the shift and will work closely with the other Production Foremen to ensure effective management of the employees on the production line. Will work with other departments to use appropriate work methods to optimize production. In addition, will ensure that all tasks performed are carried out in compliance with health and safety rules, laws and regulations as well as the company's policies.

More specifically, he or she will be called upon to:

  • Supervise, mentor and support the production team in achieving the company's objectives
  • Supervise, mentor a team of millwrights ensuring preventive and daily equipment effectiveness
  • Ensure efficient management of the various stages of production, compliance and performance
  • Train and develop employees at the various workstations
  • Make the necessary corrections to achieve high standards of quality and efficiency
  • Ensure rigorous management of production in a context of continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and occupational health and safety by ensuring that procedures are followed
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety Committee to implement innovative solutions
  • And all other related responsibilities.

Profile required:

The Production & maintenance Foreman is a key player in the success of our operations and exercises positive leadership while demonstrating initiative by promoting cooperation, transparency, rigor and respect within a multidisciplinary and diversified team.

Having already worked either as a Welder, Plasma/Laser Cutting and/or Press Brake Operator, Industrial Painter or Sandblast operator the candidate does not hesitate to get involved with employees in problem solving and is able to propose concrete solutions while being open to consult, involve and train them in best practices.

Results-oriented, the candidate must also be recognized for his analytical and synthesis skills, as well as having creativity and interest in innovative practices for improving maintenance processes. Will be able to make informed decisions in a professional manner.

Will not hesitate to get involved by proposing concrete solutions while being open to consulting and learning from other employees in order to apply best practices.

Requirements and Skills:

  • More than 7 years experience in the field of industrial manufacturing / production line
  • Possesses millwright experience with more than 5 years of experience
  • Possesses either an AEP in metal material preparation or a DEP in precision sheet metal work, DEP in tinsmithing and/or any other relevant training or experience; IMPORTANT: Please note that work experience deemed relevant may replace education.
  • Has solid experience working with welders, and/or on plasma or laser cutting tables and/or on large press brakes (from 350 tons to 1250 tons) and/or good experience with press brakes and/or industrial painters and/or sandblasting operations.
  • Bilingualism (French, English) oral (essential) and written (an important asset)
  • Ability to use numerical control systems to adjust and operate the machines
  • Experience in supervising employees with multiple work teams (an important asset)
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and imperial and metric systems of measurement
  • Experience with overhead cranes (an asset)
  • Must demonstrate leadership, initiative, high motivation and excellent communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment and escalate issues as needed
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work safely at all times and also having a good sense of humor are essential!
