About the Team:

The Customer Centre of Excellence (“Customer COE”) at Loblaw is the team responsible for enabling customer understanding across the businesses of Canada’s largest and most successful retailer.

Supporting the Manager, Strategic Insights, the Analyst would support the Customer COE through team through all aspects of project development and execution for various customer-centric research projects. With guidance, the Analyst will work with team members, research vendors, and internal stakeholders to translate customer data into actionable insights.

Please note, Loblaw currently uses a 3-2 model in which colleagues are expected to spend 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely. Please note this role is located at our Brampton (1 President’s Choice Circle) office.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating a broad range of tasks associated with consumer research, including developing timelines, scheduling meetings, and other administrative support from proposal to presentation.

  • Supporting the Manager, Strategic Insights and other team members with data analysis, including reviewing and cleaning cross-tab data tables, text analysis, and basic statistical analysis.

  • Leading small-scale projects, with support from the Manager, including longitudinal research projects that require trended data inputs, identifying key similarities and differences among different attributes and sample demographics.

  • Drawing connections and insights between multiple data sources, including other primary data sources (e.g., internal customer and transactional data) and secondary sources (e.g., syndicated research reports, Stats Canada, etc.).

  • Manage ongoing channels of internal communication that champion insights.

  • Developing stakeholder relationships that enable successful collaboration and a strong understanding of strategic priorities for the business.

  • Creating compelling research reports (i.e., PowerPoint presentations, Memos) for internal stakeholders including executive-level leadership.

Requirements/Skills:

  • A strategic mindset with a keen interest in consumer shopping behaviours and trends

  • A keen ability to find trends in data, identify key nuggets of insights, and translating them to implications and recommendations for action

  • A passion for storytelling and a keen ability to build a clear and concise narrative

  • Strong research skills, including knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods

  • Strong analytical, writing, and data visualization skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially with PowerPoint and Excel

  • Business Insights, Market Research, Psychology, Sociology, or Anthropology (or related discipline) courses an asset

  • · Previous experience in the Retail industry or Market Research industry an asset

  • Previous experience in a cross-functional support role an asset
