Summer 2025 Work Term

As of October 15, 2024 Loblaw has adopted the following Hybrid working model (a combination of working between the office and remotely). Colleagues will continue working remotely up to 1 day a week, while spending the other 4 days in the office (to be determined by each business unit).

Building Automation & Energy Optimization Intern

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and data-driven Summer Student to join our team for the upcoming summer term. This role will focus on supporting initiatives in Controls, Building Automation, and Energy Management. The successful candidate will work closely with data from building automation systems, assist with managing electricity supply and demand through modeling, support Franchise Recommissioning projects, and handle requests related to our maintenance management platform, Officetrax.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in building automation, energy optimization, and maintenance processes while contributing to impactful projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Building Automation System Data Analysis:

  • Work closely with the energy management team to assess current energy consumption patterns and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide actionable insights to support building performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with the team to create strategies for energy efficiency and cost reduction.

Recommissioning Support:

  • Provide support for Franchise Recommissioning projects, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve energy performance and reduce operational costs.

Maintenance Platform Support:

  • Assist with requests and data management in Officetrax, our maintenance management platform.
  • Support the team in ensuring accurate and up-to-date information within the system.

General Data and Project Support:

  • Provide analytical and administrative support for various controls, automation, and energy management projects.
  • Assist with ad hoc tasks and reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a university or college program in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be entering their 4th year of study in Fall 2025 or completing their last semester of education

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and analysis techniques.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Other:

  • Familiarity with maintenance or operational data is an asset but not required.
  • Duration: Full-time summer term (May 5th to August 22nd)
