Manager, Data Governance, PC Financial Toronto, ON

As a key member of the Data Governance Office at PC Financial, the Manager, Data Governance is responsible for supporting data governance and data advisory activities for PC Financial. In this role, you will provide data advisory and governance expertise to projects as well as day-to-day operations ensuring that data is treated as a corporate asset. The Manager will work with business partners, data stewards as well as technology teams to ensure a high level of data quality with the objective of improving operations and mitigating risk. This role will also enable the cataloging of metadata and ensure proper data access controls are in place including retention and archiving activities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Implement/configure data governance tools to enhance metadata and data quality capabilities
  • Document data governance roles and responsibilities to ensure data quality
  • Develop data policies, definitions, classifications, and rules with stakeholders to meet metadata needs
  • Work with stakeholders to address data access risk and ensure proper controls for critical data
  • Collaborate with managers and directors to build cross functional skills and relationships in PC Financial
  • Apply and promote data governance best practices for PC Financial projects and processes
  • Educate stakeholders on the data governance model to improve data management
  • Provide guidance on critical data quality issues and identify root cause and remediation plan

  • Support the cultural shift towards data as a strategic asset and competitive differentiator
  • Demonstrate Loblaw CORE values to deliver results

What You Bring:

  • Progressive experience in data management, data governance, process improvement, or analytics working with cross functional / matrix project teams;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster and develop relationships across the organization;
  • A good team player who is also able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to work in an agile environment which requires prioritization of individual duties to align with department priorities.
  • Ability to write SQL to support data quality analysis
  • Familiarity with DCAM or similar Data Management framework
  • Experience with productivity tools such as Office365, MS Teams, Confluence, JIRA, and Slack;
  • Experience with data governance tools such as Informatica or GCP Dataplex;
