Job Overview:
Manage the Loblaw Energy and Facilities (LEaF) Health and Safety Management system and program across Canada, while influencing a safety-oriented approach to your work. As the National Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our employees and maintaining compliance with all regional safety regulations. You will work directly with the Senior Construction Health and Safety Manager, our regional branches, business partners, employees, and vendors, working individually and as a part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and support for entire Safety Management System, including involvement in field activities such as rollouts, training programs, and operationalization.
- Assist area/regional directors and safety representatives in execution of their roles.
- Act as the principal contributor in the development, implementation, and sustainment of occupational health and safety programs, standards, and training initiatives.
- Support operational leadership by reaffirming safety standards and overseeing work execution management through systematic assurance of activities and participation in corrective action plans.
- Assist with health and safety matters to ensure compliance with provincial legislation, as well as federal regulations driven by internal and third-party audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Conduct or participate in area assessments, inspections, observations, reviews, data analysis and assist in the completion of corrective actions as required.
- Support and reinforce incident management process including reporting, investigation, committee reviews, monitoring corrective actions and lessons learned communication.
- Input into training courses and facilitate area-specific training on workplace safety measures when needed.
- Provide support to the Store Development and Construction Division of Loblaw Real Estate (LRE) as required to promote cohesive cross-functional health and safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen and leverage corporate and industry best practices.

Professional Competencies:
- NCSO or CRSP designation.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible health & safety experience within the construction industry is preferred. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Comprehensive understanding and interpretation of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation across Canada, with an in-depth knowledge of Construction.
- Proven project management, coordination, interpersonal, communication, writing, computer, as well as data/analytical skills.
- Experienced in developing and maintaining positive supportive relationships with various levels of operational stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Travel required 10-20%.
