We are hiring a full-time Paralegal to assist with litigation, regulatory, and claims management matters. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Paralegal will be an integral part of the Litigation Team working with other members of the team, internal stakeholders, and third-party adjusters to ensure the best results in our litigation, regulatory, and claims management cases. The Paralegal will work with a high degree of autonomy and perform substantive legal work. The Paralegal will also be involved in implementing process improvements where needed. This is a hybrid role.
Responsibilities:
Assume carriage of Small Claims Court, Tribunal, Regulatory, and Provincial Offences matters, including preparing correspondence, pleadings, motion materials, etc. and attending court;
Liaise with the business on litigation/dispute matters, locate documents, collect data, etc.;
Assist with our self-insured claims;
Arrange for service and filing of legal documents;
Legal Tracker administration including opening /closing matters;
Respond to legal requests relating to garnishments, bankruptcies, assignments, and debt collection;
Organize files, correspondence, and related documents electronically;
Support customer service and stores; and
Assist with a variety of special projects.
About You:
Minimum 2 years of related experience with a law firm or major company;
Law Society of Ontario P1 (Paralegal) License in good standing;
Good understanding of law firm or legal department processes and systems;
Highly organized and detail-oriented;
Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking skills;
Ability to take initiative and work independently;
Strong team player; and
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
