Role Mandate:

The Food Safety Specialist leads the implementation of a broad range of food safety protocols and procedures. The incumbent also ensures compliance with the company’s food safety programs training and other measures.

Accountabilities:

Support Digital Food Safety Management (DFSM) Program

  • Store communications
    • Develop and issue store communications based on rollout by waves, application enhancements (releases) and scheduled/unscheduled outages
    • Support development and issue store surveys with the change management and project team
    • Provide ad-hoc updates as needed (e.g. unsuccessful deployment, widespread technical issues, server failures, etc.)
    • Monitor compliance metrics and share data trending to the project team to be shared with banner operations
  • Store support
    • Schedule support calls as per rollout schedule (invites only, not expected to participate)
    • For non-ticket-related issues, triage and provide support via cell/email to resolve
    • Engage Food Safety Specialists for in-store support and follow-up as required

Supply Chain

  • Provide dedicated support for the development and implementation of robust Food Safety documentation systems.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain team to create and update documents including:
    • HACCP
    • Upgrade of DC/Transport SOPs
    • Create and update training modules
  • By effectively organizing and updating documentation, this position plays a vital role in enhancing communication, accessibility, and overall efficiency within our organization.

Role Requirements::

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with HACCP principles and Safe Food for Canadians and other applicable regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing documentation and compliance metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for developing store communications and ad-hoc updates.
  • Proficient in reading and writing French an asset, although not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, particularly in Supply Chain and operations.
  • Proficient in using digital tools for document creation, management, and tracking. Familiarity with project management software and communication platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
