GENERAL FUNCTION

Based in our Toronto office and reporting to the Manager of Production: Edging and Mounting, this role operates from 8:30 am to 05:00 pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), with flexibility as per business requirements.

The role focuses on implementing process control projects, optimizing production flows, and achieving quality and productivity targets. Additionally, it supports supervisors, implements EssilorLuxottica's continuous improvement and quality standards, and ensures hands-on process control and calibration for operational optimization. This role also coordinates process standardization and provides training support to employees.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee workflow, analyze returns, and rework to maintain lens manufacturing efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate across departments to adhere to production schedules and maintain daily departmental organization.
  • Develop and propose technical or organizational solutions to production challenges.
  • Serve as the technical advisor and primary contact for the local customer experience team.
  • Prepare and analyze KPI production reports and manage operational costs and budgets.
  • Supervise staff to foster a productive atmosphere while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee equipment maintenance for efficient production.
  • Implement and manage Quality Management System (QMS) processes.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety regulations, and ISO standards.
  • Conduct regular internal audits, training sessions, and workshops to enhance staff skills.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and update programs as necessary.

Human Resource Management:

  • Foster a conducive climate aligned with HR policies, health and safety rules, and EssilorLuxottica values.
  • Master company operation policies.
  • Participate in recruitment, employee training, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Manage and support the management team, apply disciplinary measures as necessary.
  • Ensure effective team communication and enhance personnel skills and versatility.

Administration:

  • Administer payroll, confirm hours worked, and manage vacation planning.
  • Track personnel movements (CNESST, illnesses, incident reports) with HR and inform supervisors.
  • Administer payables (purchases, suppliers, invoices, etc.).
  • Perform other related administrative tasks for the group.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma of College Studies in a relevant discipline (visual orthosis, an asset).
  • 9+ years of experience in edging and mounting with a minimum of 5 years in management.
  • Ability to manage 25+ staff, including frontline leaders.
  • In-depth knowledge of optics, including terminology, edging & mounting, types of lenses, products, and reading prescriptions.
  • Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, autonomy, and initiative.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and organizational problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Rigorous, results-oriented, and customer-centric (internal and external).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledgeable in production management methodologies, techniques, and tools.
  • Bilingualism (English and French, spoken and written) is an asset.
