Client Portfolio Analyst

The Client Portfolio Analyst (“CPA”) is responsible for completing a variety of analyses and creating reports on a monthly and quarterly basis. This position works with the designated Client Portfolio Management Specialist (“CPMs”) assisting any of their data and reporting needs. Analysis and content developed by the CPA supports the firm’s efforts to provide outstanding client service and to gather and retain assets. The CPA must continuously grow and adapt to changing demands and a wide range of requests for support as markets, strategy lifecycles and performance cycles change. The CPA must excel at working independently while collaborating with many groups across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Generates, reviews, analyzes and interprets attribution and positioning data and creates custom analyses and reports tailored to specific strategies and clients.

  • Works with Distribution, Relationship Management/Client Service to respond to client information requests on various topics.

  • Supports the completion of monthly and quarterly client reporting. This includes writing strategy commentaries, validating portfolio characteristics and performance and ensures that all reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Supports CPMS and portfolio managers in response to internal distribution and client inquiries, including ad hoc and follow-up to prospect, client, and consultant questions.

  • Compiles analysis or data points for client meetings as requested by the CPMS. This may comprise writing specific holding descriptions or more detailed information on portfolio positioning.

  • Work closely with CPMS in the content creation process including custom presentations, exhibits and analysis (e.g. sales kits, market outlook slides, new product collateral, etc.) used by CPMS’, PMs and other stakeholders (sales, product, marketing teams).

  • Remains knowledgeable about current market and industry news as well as important announcements and events related to top strategy holdings and portfolio positioning.

  • Strives to improve investment knowledge by conducting research and reading articles.

  • Fosters and develops relationships with other departments.

  • Key functional back-up of CPMS on all client servicing/reporting activities

  • Develop and maintain knowledge on markets, portfolios, portfolio manager thinking and positioning, benchmarks, and peers.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or a related field

  • 1-3 years of related investment work experience

  • Investment knowledge within applicable asset class preferred

  • Interest in/progress toward CFA/MBA accreditations beneficial but not required

  • Outstanding analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative

  • Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, responsible, organized, with excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience in communicating investment matters

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with CPMS’ and Portfolio Managers

Salary range is expected to be between

$74,000.00 CAD - $111,000.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
