Credit Risk Senior Analyst

Reporting to the Director, Account Management, Specialized Lending, the Credit Risk Senior Analyst is a key part of a team of Account Management professionals whose primary role is to complete accurate & concise annual reviews of commercial & personal loans with assurance that all of Manulife Bank’s credit risk policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines are being adhered to.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the annual review of a portfolio of Specialized Lending loans through the gathering and evaluation of insurance & Bank documentation, ensuring compliance to company policies, standards & procedures and adherence to all financial industry regulations.

  • Review of loans using an established review methodology, assist in identifying actual and potential loan issues at the earliest possible time; loans that are not compliant are highlighted and actioned in accordance with file escalation processes.

  • Request, review, & evaluate documentation provided by the advisor and/or client required to complete annual reviews; ensuring loan reviews are conducted in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

  • Investigate, evaluate, and analyze documentation provided to ensure all legal, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know-Your-Client (KYC) legislation requirements have been satisfied and refer suspected fraud to internal business partners.

  • Track, document, and update all assigned reviews, completed reviews, & in process reviews, with monthly completion targets for annual reviews.

  • Recommend changes to policy, standards, operational processes, and procedures as needed based on deficiencies or gaps noted through the loan review process.

  • Other activities include completion of loan withdrawal requests, updates/requests to Credit Risk Management, and completion of other customer enquiries in a timely manner.

  • Build and maintain professional relationships and work collaboratively with all lines of business within the Bank, including Account Management, Sales, Account Support, and Credit Risk Management.

The Credit Risk Senior Analyst will play a pivotal role in maintaining the Specialized Lending loan portfolio through primarily the completion of annual loan reviews, as well as assisting the team with other portfolio activities and requests.

You will have a real impact on ensuring the Bank is maintaining its Specialized Lending portfolio in a sound fashion, working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with partners across several different areas of the Bank.

What we are looking for

  • 3- 5 years (minimum) of experience in underwriting/loan review/credit review of Personal and/or Commercial loan products

  • Firm grasp of lending credit principles and ability to comprehend insurance policy documents; experience with financial statement analysis is an asset.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the confidence, credibility, and ability to work effectively within the organization

  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation and sense of urgency with the ability to work successfully with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office (MS Word and Excel and internet-based communication mediums) - knowledge of Manulife Bank systems is an asset.

  • Exemplary proficiency (spoken and written) in English (with French bilingualism being an asset for this role).

Salary range is expected to be between

$49,575.00 CAD - $82,625.00 CAD
