Head of Database Practices and Operations

Join our Global Enterprise Technology Services Team!

Reporting to our AVP, Product Management; our Senior Director will be leading our technical and operations teams in collaboration with our North America and Asia partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Global Database Practices, and Operations Team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.

  • Develop and implement database management strategies tailored to the regional teams, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security, while promoting the adoption of various patterns and robust data governance practices.

  • Stay updated on industry standard processes and emerging technologies in database management, patterns, and data governance, and make recommendations for their implementation in the context of Asia and North America. Leverage AI to identify task automation opportunities such as data modeling, schema design and performance optimization

  • Define and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures to ensure data integrity and security, considering regional regulations, best practices, and principles.

  • Drive initiatives to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and standards relevant to Asia and North America, while promoting the adoption of supported patterns for secure and efficient operations.

  • Monitor and analyze database performance metrics, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.

  • Provide operational support for database systems in Asia and North America, including performance tuning, and incident management, addressing the specific needs of each region.

Requirements:

  • 10 years+ related technical leadership experience in managing and leading regionally diverse technical and delivery teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and NoSQL databases, with an understanding of their relevance to the Asia and North America regions and the ability to drive data governance initiatives.

  • Solid understanding of data protection regulations, processes for data security, and robust data governance principles, particularly in the context of Asia and North America.

  • Superb communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams.

  • A strategic approach with the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in database practices, operations, patterns, and robust data governance, with a focus on the needs of teams in Asia and North America.

  • Expertise in database migration from on-premises to cloud environments, as well as conversion between different database types.

  • Experience in multiple cloud environments, with a preference for Azure, AWS, and AliCloud.

Salary range is expected to be between

$103,050.00 CAD - $185,490.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
