Manager, Finance – Group Functions Data Office

Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management in the Group Functions Data Office , this individual will be a key member of GFDO team in supporting the projects and initiatives that impact the function. The individual will support the delivery of global initiatives by building key reporting to support the team into while building positive relationships across the data offices, technology organization and other Manulife partners. The individual will work alongside Project Managers the implementation of key projects by building accurate financial and KPI reporting.

Position Responsibilities

  • Build and design project financials controls and reporting to contribute to the successful completion of projects and initiatives within Group Functions teams, ensuring the completion of all tasks effectively.
  • Build effective relationships with the Project Managers and keep them accountable on submitting all inputs required for project reporting.
  • Review and collaborate on yearly budgeting and monthly forecasting for projects.
  • Escalate and flag any project overages & work with technical developers and data engineers to build reporting dashboards and controls.
  • Maintain a strong sense of accountability for all aspects of your projects/tasks, including follow-ups, approaching deadlines, issue resolutions, and updating the financials for projects to document project statuses, issues, and risks timely, while performing other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in finance or accounting, ideally with experience on projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, actuarial science, finance, or equivalent
  • Analytical skills with the ability to design, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Innovative thinker with the ability to influence and challenge the status quo to continuously improve processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work with financial issues and concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity or knowledge of agile, project management processes, process improvement methodologies and tools would be a key asset
  • Flexible and change-oriented attitude that embraces new ideas and ways of working
  • Motivated self-starter, with ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively
  • A team player who is able to react positively to changing priorities

Salary range is expected to be between

$78,975.00 CAD - $142,155.00 CAD
