Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

As the Senior Full Stack Developer at John Hancock, you will design, develop, and maintain both front-end and back-end components of web applications, ensuring responsiveness and performance. You will also develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, implement best practices for code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline software delivery. Your role will also involve implementing and managing Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions to enhance user authentication, authorization, and identity management.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain front-end and back-end components of web applications, ensuring responsiveness and performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for debugging and resolving issues in both front-end and back-end code, ensuring application stability and reliability.

CI/CD and Automation:

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient software deployment, testing, and management, aiming for continuous integration and delivery.
  • Automate routine development tasks and workflows using scripting and configuration management tools to ensure consistent and reliable application development and deployment.

Best Practices and Collaboration:

  • Implement best practices for code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline software delivery, accelerate time-to-market, and drive business value through high-quality releases.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks in both front-end and back-end systems to optimize overall application performance.

CIAM Implementation:

  • Implement and manage CIAM solutions to enhance user authentication, authorization, and identity management.
  • Integrate CIAM solutions with web applications to provide seamless and secure user experiences.
  • Leverage ForgeRock or similar identity management platforms to enhance CIAM capabilities (nice to have).
  • Implement and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) and identity federation using SAML.
  • Design and implement authentication and authorization flows using OIDC to ensure secure and user-friendly access controls.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in CIAM and identity management to continuously improve system security and user experience.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and prioritize feature development, define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement feedback loops to ensure alignment between feature development and business goals.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of experience working in or leading complex enterprise implementations, with a proven track record of successful delivery and support for large-scale, distributed software applications in a production environment.
  • Experience with front-end and back-end technologies, including but not limited to JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, React, Next.js, and relevant frameworks.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other software engineering best practices.
  • Knowledge of CIAM solutions, including SAML and OIDC, to ensure secure and user-friendly access controls.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and tools, ensuring efficient software deployment, testing, and management.
  • Familiarity with GitOps practices to manage infrastructure and applications using Git as a single source of truth.
  • Knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for deploying and managing containerized applications in a cloud environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes to engineering leadership.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, enabling effective management through the creative process.
  • Eagerness to learn emerging technologies and understand their potential impact on future developments.
  • A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline software delivery, accelerate time-to-market, and drive business value through high-quality releases.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with identity management platforms like ForgeRock (nice to have) to enhance CIAM capabilities.
  • Experience with project tracking software (e.g., Jira).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with Azure, AKS on Azure.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with DevOps principles and tools.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with JSON.

  • Languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, React, HTML5, CSS3, Java, and/or similar technologies.

Salary range is expected to be between

$92,190.00 CAD - $171,210.00 CAD
