SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain quality procedures for receiving produce at Metro’s PDC. These procedures must assure that:
- All suppliers shipping to Metro comply with product specifications and related food safety requirements.
- The receivers follow Metro’s prescribed receiving practices. This also involves one on one job training with the receivers (unionized employees) and managers and group training as required. The incumbent must provide support to the receivers, act as a resource and monitor their performance without directing them.
- Inventory levels and rotation are monitored to assure the freshest product possible is shipped to the stores.
- Audit the PDC daily, identifying quality and shrink issues (short codes, inventory problems, rotation or slotting issues, temperature problems etc.) and provide the information in a document form that is easy to use by procurement and the warehouse. Ensure that corrective action is taken in a timely manner.
- Record all rejections by commodity, identifying the supplier, the item, the number of cases involved, the reason for the rejection and the disposition of the product.
- Perform in-house inspections, which will be used as the basis for rejecting local and imported products. Inspections will be used as information for our procurement and field offices when dealing with suppliers. Inspections are also the catalyst, which initiates CFIA product inspections.
