A career as an Associate Director or Director, Sales and Trading for Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) within the Commodities Derivatives team at National Bank means playing a key role in sales and trading activities, utilizing advanced technical skills, expertise in financial risk management, and in-depth knowledge of the NGL market to positively impact the organization.
Your Job
- Engage with clients to price and execute OTC and cleared derivatives on NGL products
- Participate in the secondary market for price discovery, risk management, and seeking speculative opportunities
- Produce fundamental research for internal use and client distribution on NGL markets including, but not limited to Mont Belvieu, Conway and FEI propane, butane, condensate, and polypropylene
- Follow industry news and attend relevant events
- Develop new relationships and cultivate revenue growth opportunities
- Collaborate with risk oversight and middle office to ensure position management aligns with Bank policies and risk limits
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed
Your Team
National Bank Commodity Derivatives is a Calgary based sales and trading desk specialized in trading a broad range of physical and financial commodity derivatives in the cleared and OTC market. Our focus is on energy commodities such as crude, refined products, natural gas and liquids. You will be part of a team of 18 colleagues, and you will report to the Head of Commodities.
Basic Requirements
- Undergraduate/graduate degree in engineering, business, or quantitative studies, along with a CFA or CPA designation
- Previous experience in Natural Gas Liquids sales and trading is required
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented, and fast paced environment
- Strong technical skills including Excel and Bloomberg with a preference for data analysis experience in Python.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks concurrently throughout the day
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Skilled in presenting complex information clearly and succinctly to diverse audiences
