An internship in model management in the Model Risk Management team at National Bank means being a key player in the management, support and optimization of the inventory (directory or register) of models and systems in the Bank.
Model inventory is an important component of model risk management. All models that will be deployed in the organization must be identified, recorded, and versioned to allow tracking of all actions performed on them well before they are developed until they are decommissioned.
It also means working closely with model lifecycle stakeholders to vulgarize regulatory and internal requirements for model documentation, while also understanding their needs, resolving technical issues, and proposing continuous improvements to the collection of required information.
Your internship mandate:
  • Daily documentation of model information at all stages of their model lifecycle and ensuring timely updating of information.
  • Control: Ensuring the integrity, accuracy and completeness of documented information and conducting regular checks to identify any inconsistencies.
  • Technology application: support the Model Manager in overseeing the Model Management Application, including maintenance, updates, and necessary enhancements to meet the needs of users and the Inventory Manager
  • User Support: Provide front-line support to the teams using the application, resolving technical issues and answering their questions.
  • Documentation and Training: Maintain and update technical documentation and inventory user guides. Organize training sessions for users as needed.
  • Reporting: Support the Model Manager in the development of dashboards and the preparation and reporting of model information as requested by committees and senior management.
Your team: Part of the company-wide risk management at National Bank of Canada, The mandate of the Model Validation and Model Risk Management group is to identify, measure and manage model risk across the Bank. We are responsible for managing model risk at the Bank and validating several groups of models used by the Bank in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. This is a unique opportunity to join the team that is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and detail-oriented individual with strong collaboration skills and the ability to adapt and evolve in a changing environment.
Required skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the industry and relevant experience OR Master's degree in a field related to the industry.
  • Skills in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Analytical abilities, with a detail-oriented approach and an ability to develop solutions to complex problems. Ability to quickly assimilate new information and adapt strategies to an ever-changing regulatory environment.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills, to popularize and synthesize information
  • Experience with a data visualization tool such as Power BI.
  • Experience with technical support tools such as JIRA.
  • Knowledge of or interest in risk management and models
  • Knowledge of or interest in the regulatory framework for financial institutions
