About the role

Reporting to the Mining Engineering Supervisor, the incumbent is part of the mining engineering team at the Eleonore mine. A recent mining engineering graduate from university, the Engineering-In-Training (EIT) will have the opportunity to gain various experience through rotations within the department’s teams (ie. ventilation, drill &blast, mine planning, surveying, ground control) as well as potentially gain operational experience. The EIT will support the different teams in their deliverables to accomplish the safe production at the mine.

Essential Duties
  • Support the various engineering teams at executing their work (ex. Issuing plans, underground visits, data collection and analysis, reports, etc…)
  • Actively participate and/or lead mining tasks
  • Develop tools to increase teams efficiency
  • Demonstrate rigor in engineering duties
  • Identify cost reductions initiatives
  • Contribute to a positive working environment
  • Obtain underground operational exposure through the work rotations
  • Respect, know and promote the company's regulations and policies, particularly in the area of health and safety.
  • All tasks related to the performance of his/her duties.
Training & Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Between 1 to 2 years of pertinent experience in an underground mine
  • Valid explosives permit
  • Mining modules (F.M.T.M. 1 to 5, and 7)
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite as well as Deswik is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French)

Working Conditions
  • Éléonore mine site (Fly-in, Fly-out from Montreal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn-Noranda, Val D'Or and Wemindji)
    Schedule: 14 days of work followed by 14 days of rest
