Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. Your Purpose

The purpose of the position is to support the Technical Services group with various QAQC tasks, preparation of weekly packages and supporting various departments with underground inspections or tasks. The successful candidate will be able to work with supervision and produce required timelines, designs, and operational inputs. The role will require multi-disciplinary cooperation and understanding across the different mining groups.

Essential Duties

Perform the following duties with safety being the number one priority:

  • Perform underground vent surveys as directed by the ventilation group, and preparing the vent survey package for review by the ventilation team or Senior Engineer
  • Assist short term planners with producing and distributing level maps, weekly plan packages and compliance reports
  • Assist Drill and Blast Engineers with Drill packages and sign offs
  • Underground inspections of current, future and completed drill locations, providing required feedback to planning team as needed
  • Underground inspections and documentation of underground infrastructure including air, water, paste and electrical.
  • Data collection for drill and blast activities, including but not limited to borehole survey monitoring, CMS scans, blast accelerometer (dyno shot+) installs and collection
  • Data entry for drill reports, MDM databases, or relevant ventilation and Geotech activities
  • Assist Mid Range Engineering team with updating of service line work for electrical, air and water as required
  • Using prepared templates, prepare monthly budget updates for Projects group including monthly updates on current projects and future spend
  • Assist Glacier group with data collection as needed. May involve Glacier survey duties and processing
  • Assist Geotechnical group as required with paste fill package preparation or supervised paste backfill barricade markups
  • Maintain position as department contact for SAP related entries for scheduling and purchasing related orders
Training & Experience
  • Mine technician qualification or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in underground mines.
  • Advanced computer skills (i.e. AutoCAD, Deswik, Vulcan, Microsoft Office etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player to work with coworkers and contractors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
  • Ability to liaise effectively with management teams and deal with complex problems
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and Provincial mining & safety legislation and regulations.
Your Work Environment
  • Work at remote location (Brucejack Site) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team.

The Newmont team is recruiting for the position of Mine Technician with a competitive base salary between $83,383-111,180, with an additional short-term incentive of 15%. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity. The expected salary range for this role is CA$83,383 - 111,180 + 15% short-term incentive . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
