We are seeking detail-oriented and organized payroll professionals to manage the end-to-end payroll process for our company. These roles are essential in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with tax laws, and providing excellent service to employees regarding payroll inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefits.
- Calculate wages, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and overtime.
- Prepare and process tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial laws.
- Prepare and issue paychecks or direct deposits for all employees.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and union agreements.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
- Assist with year-end tax reporting and other necessary documents.
- Process garnishments, child support, and other court-ordered deductions.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and generate payroll-related reports for management.
- Assist in audits and ensure proper documentation is available.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to resolve payroll discrepancies.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred).
- Proven experience in payroll administration, heavy industry preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll software (SAP, Dayforce etc)
- Familiarity with federal and provincial tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Certification in payroll (e.g., Payroll Compliance Professional) is a plus.
