About this role

The Specialist - Process Engineering Role partners with the Operational Sites to optimize the mineral processing circuits in order to maximize business value delivery. The Specialist - Process Engineering role supports the Principal - Process Engineering role to implement innovative solutions, deliver Full Potential and Rapid Replication project/program outcomes, provide technical guidance and support training of plant personnel as it relates to mineral processing circuits and processes.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Deliver technical support to metallurgical and processing site operations.
  • Diagnose troubleshooting and problem-solving for process-related issues.
  • Coordinate in all FP refresh activities as the Processing technical resource.
  • Collaborate with selected processing guides, Asset Management and the sites with a view to refining process flowsheets and, operating conditions for maximum throughput, efficiency and recovery.
  • Collaborate with the Processing Managers, Asset Managers, Technical Services Managers and Mine Managers to solve operational challenges.
  • Deliver support to studies and projects. Coordinate the work conducted by the Specialist-processing i.e. Met test work management, Data interpretation, Modelling and run the work around Flowsheet development, Process Design criteria and all design docs review and sign-off, economic model input, and contribute to the development of Stage Gate deliverables for Met.
  • Coordinate the deployment of new technologies and process improvements.

Your training, skills, and experience

Education:

  • Given the nature of the role, a formal education qualification in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering will be required.

Experience:

  • Operational experience in gold/copper mineral processing circuits/plants are required that include in managing teams, effective communication, and stakeholder management in the operational context.
  • Knowledge that has been gained through work practice with metallurgical design, test work, and engineering are required.
  • The applicant must be competent in the area of metallurgy/mineral processing and practical experience in this area.
  • This implies not only having up-to-date understanding of best practice in metallurgy/mineral processing, but also proficiency in practically applying the knowledge to maximize business value delivery. Examples include familiarity with lab test programs, sampling programs, plant surveys, data analysis and interpretation, modeling, economic analysis, plant design and operational experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • The incumbent needs to be familiar with appropriate software tools and processes, including experience in MS Office applications like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.

Working conditions and location
  • This role will support the AFCAN region so it is location flexible within Canada and will also cover the Africa region
  • Position requires travel nationally and internationally to assist Newmont’s Processing Operations globally.

The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 116,000-152,250 CAD. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
