Purpose

Our Red Chris operation is recruiting for a Fixed Plant Maintenance Execution Superintendent with a competitive base salary of $144,000-170,00, depending on skills and experience. The Fixed Plant Maintenance Execution Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of maintenance activities for fixed plant equipment and infrastructure at Newmont’s copper/gold mining operation. This leadership role ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards while driving efficiency and fostering a high-performing team culture.

Essential Duties


Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance supervisors, tradespeople, and contractors to deliver maintenance plans and unscheduled repairs.
  • Foster a safety-first culture by promoting adherence to all safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop, mentor, and coach team members, supporting their professional growth and skills development.
  • Manage workforce scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage while maximizing team efficiency and compliance with site fatigue management policies.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the execution of planned and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal plant availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner and Reliability teams to refine and prioritize the maintenance schedule.
  • Analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed to standard, within budget, and aligned with operational goals.

Essential Duties Continued

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with Newmont’s safety, environmental, and operational guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and shared across the team.
  • Maintain compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for maintenance execution matters, liaising with production, planning, and other site teams to ensure alignment.
  • Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of parts and materials.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Maintenance Manager, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and improvement opportunities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing new technologies, processes, and methodologies.
  • Support initiatives to reduce maintenance costs and improve asset life-cycle management.
  • Contribute to capital projects, providing input on design, equipment selection, and maintainability.
Training & Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Trade qualification or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in fixed plant maintenance, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of copper/gold processing operations, including crushing, milling, flotation, and ancillary systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams in a high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto) and maintenance planning tools.
  • Proven commitment to safety and environmental management

Desirable

  • Experience in remote mining operations.
  • Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP).
  • Knowledge of lean maintenance practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
