About Brucejack

Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. Your Purpose

Our Brucejack site is now recruiting for the position of Supervisor control Systems with a competitive base salary between 103,000-137,000 with an additional short term incentive. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity.

Supervise a team of control system engineers and technicians to maximize the availability, operability, and effectiveness of the fixed plant Industrial Control Systems (ICS) within a single site. This role provides technical expertise and support for DCS & PLC, systems, including configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The role also oversees control system networking and OT infrastructure, manages site operational budgets, and ensures adherence to Newmont’s global standards, specifications and change management processes. Additionally, the incumbent collaborates with vendors, supports various departments to maximize production, and participates in the global control system community to share and implement best practices.

Purpose
  • Provide proactive leadership and an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility, and sustainable development and technical regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere to Newmont’s Fatality Risk Management program, Electrical Safety Standards, and all directives given by a Newmont-appointed Site Electrical Authority.
  • Supervise, guide, mentor, support and develop the Control System team members within a site
  • Assess, maintain, improve and report the availability and performance of all fixed plant control systems, performance monitoring tools and AVEVA PI application suite at a given site.
  • Facilitate daily ICS pre-start meetings and checks to ensure key safety and performance metrics are reviewed, reported and actioned to ensure/improve the safety and performance of people and equipment
  • Review, prioritize and execute the pipeline of temporary and permanent change requests, improvement opportunities and cyber security risk mitigation measures to ICS hardware, software and applications for a given site
  • Develop resourcing plans and manage costs, schedule, scope and implementation risks to safely execute projects impacting on site industrial control systems
  • Develop resourcing plans, prioritizes and schedules internal auditing and preventative maintenance, minor upgrades and validation of spares for ICS infrastructure
  • Facilitate root cause analysis (RCA’s) investigations, diagnosis and resolution of operations and maintenance issues related to the ICS, prepare and distribute reports to peers at other sites
  • Collaborate in the global fixed plant process systems community to share and implement best practices and lessons learned
Training and Experience
  • Education: Degree in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A trade qualification with equivalent experience is also considered.
  • Experience: Hands-on expertise with Delta V DCS , Rockwell PLCs systems in a mining or heavy industry setting.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of ICS communication protocols (Modbus TCP/IP, OPC, Profibus), industrial Ethernet networks, cybersecurity best practices, and AVEVA PI, IT OT Fundamentals.
  • Leadership & Problem-Solving: Proven ability to supervise teams, troubleshoot issues, and drive system improvements.
  • Project & Budget Management: Experience overseeing ICS projects, resource planning, and cost control.
