Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Supervisor of Mining, the Supervisor of Mine Operations will ensure the safe delivery of the mine plan, with a focus on safety, mining productivity, and maintaining Newmont standards.

Essential Duties

Technical Accountabilities

  • Balance workload and make decisions in consultation with other stakeholders to achieve safe production outcomes as dictated by weekly and monthly plans
  • Comply with Red Chris standards, procedures, policies and government legislation
  • Promote and actively participate in business improvements and ideas
  • Engage technical staff when required to undertake weekly and day to day operational tasks
  • Ability to involve others throughout a decision-making process to obtain better information, generate alternatives and ensure buy-in to the resulting decision, and builds support in doing so
  • Monitor production progress against the Weekly Plan and take corrective action to achieve compliance in consultation with the technical team’
  • Identify gaps in processes, procedures and standards, remedy if possible and complete change management as required
  • Accountable to make safe decisions based on available information even when faced with pressures like lack of time, uncertainty or ambiguity
  • Total material movement optimisation via effective crew management & identifying / implementing improvements
  • Manage haul road construction and maintenance in accordance with site standards in consultation with technical staff
  • Manage Rock Storage Area (RSA) construction and maintenance in accordance with site standards in consultation with technical staff
  • Manage dig faces and stockpiles in accordance with site standards and the Health Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia
  • Responsibility as blast controller for blasting operations within the Open Pit
  • When on Dayshift - Minimum of 1 field tour with the Senior Supervisor and technical staff per week
  • Daily ‘hot-seat’ plan development and coordination with dispatch and OP5
  • Cable plan review and execution with pit utility - ensure minimum 1 cable audit per rotation is completed and documented.

In addition to the above responsibilities and accountabilities, the Mine Operations Supervisor will be required to undertake any and all other tasks, as directed by the Senior Supervisor or Superintendent of Mining.

Training & Experience
  • Valid BC Shift Boss Ticket is required
  • Hard Rock Mining experience is essential
  • Minimum 5+ years of Open Pit mining experience
  • Previous leadership experience in a Mining environment is an asset

The expected salary range for this role is CA$$109,650 - 129,000. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
