Purpose

Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Senior Surveyor with a competitive base salary between $97,125-$105,000 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications.

The Senior Surveyor leads a team of field surveyors to provide aligned, consistent, high-quality survey services in support of tailings dam construction. This role is a core part of the construction quality program and helps assure that the dams and enabling works are constructed to specification. The Senior Surveyor reports to the Superintendent - TIA Construction.

Essential Duties

Safety - Demonstrate a personal commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment by participating in company safety systems, policies, procedures, environmental requirements, and standard operating procedures. Provide in-field safety leadership through the administration of PSM and FRM programs.

  • Manage field survey personnel (up to 6 people).
  • Create survey design files from civil works designs prepared by the EOR and TIA Construction Engineers.
  • Analyse survey data and maintain a formal survey file database.
  • Consult, collaborate and share survey data with engineers, QA/QC, and contractor personnel.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps and reports of survey data to describe/certify work areas.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly volume calculations (material placed, hauled and excavated).
  • Prepare and distribute as-built records of constructed works to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare field fit designs for roads, ramps, borrows, dumps, etc.
  • Create procedures for technical survey tasks.
  • Maintain and update surveying equipment and software.
  • Provide field surveying services as required based on seasonal staffing levels.
Training & Experience
  • Proficient with relevant survey/mining software programs(preferred - Minesight, TBC, Pix4D)
  • Proficient with DJI drones and photogrammetry processing ( Basic or Advanced RPAS licence )
  • Proficient with Trimble GPS equipment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Leadership, planning and organizational skills
  • (8) eight years of experience in large civil projects, dam construction or mining.
  • Strong background in earthworks surveying and survey office management
  • Survey Engineering or Technologist Diploma
  • Mining Technologist Diploma
