Purpose

Reporting to the Supply & Logistics Superintendent, the Supervisor of Supply & Logistics provides leadership to all aspects of Warehouse operations and is responsible to lead a team of Journeyperson Warehouse Technicians while demonstrating Newmont Values.

The Red Chris Mine Supply & Logistics team is recruiting for a Supervisor of Supply & Logistics, with a competitive annual salary between $94,000 - $127,000, with additional benefits and Travel Allowance to be provided. The offered base salary will be determined on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies with additional consideration to internal equity. We are seeking an individual for a Fly-In, Fly-Out opportunity working on a two-weeks-in, two-weeks-out rotation.

Responsibilities

Receive and inspect the documentation of the materials, spare parts, equipment, and other supplies that are received and dispatched of the warehouse.

  • Ensure all shipping, receiving and issuing functions are completed with a high degree of accuracy conforming to best practices / Newmont standards and captured within Newmont’s SAP system. Act as a technical reference point and mentor for all employees.
  • Support inventory management including reconciling and maintaining of material inventory through regular cycle counts.
  • Oversee and monitor availability of stock with regular interaction between other departments (maintenance, planning, procurement).
  • Support simplification and standardization of processes and identify enhancement opportunities
  • Supervise the safe and efficient offloading and loading of transport trucks.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and reporting of Supply and Logistics Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensure adequate resources are available through scheduling for all upcoming shifts.
  • In Superintendent absence, provide support in the daily operation of the Supply and Logistics department

Safety and Environment
  • Ensure that the team complies with and participates in the Fatality Risk Management program to its fullest intent including Critical Controls Verification procedures and processes
  • Ensure warehouse technicians comply with the legislative requirements (ie. Transportation of Dangerous Goods).
  • Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety, environmental and Social Responsibility practices surrounding inclusion, Diversity & Equity.
  • Conduct regular warehouse and yard safety inspections and develop action plans to address any deficiencies found.
  • Raising, discussion and resolution of safety issues at Pre-Start Meetings and throughout the course of daily activities.
Staff Supervision
  • Provide day to day supervision, acting as a technical reference point and mentor for staff to ensure work outputs are in line with daily and weekly business plans.
  • In Superintendent absence, provide support in the daily operation in the warehouse.
  • Monitor performance and develop review plans for all direct reports.
  • Ensure fulfilment of staff against agreed rosters patterns and notifying management of gaps created during leave periods.

Training and Experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in Manufacturing or Distribution and Warehouse Operations.
  • SCMP Designation is an asset
  • Journeyman Parts Technician Red Seal is required
  • Previous experience in mining operations is considered a strong asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • 3 or more years of SAP experience is desired
  • Experience leading teams in a Unionized work environment is a strong asset.
  • Class 5 Driver's License is required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
