The Superintendent is part of the mining operation sector team. He/She supervises operational activities related to the underground infrastructures, particularly development and production. The Mine Superintendent adheres to the company’s principles by adopting a management style that is oriented toward sustainable development, Newmont behaviours, operation for excellence and the organization's code of conduct.
- Plans, organizes, manages, and supervises the mining activities.
- Establish and oversees mining operation’s objectives
- Supervise his team compose with captain and assistant-superintendent
- Support his team in solving problems related to the productions challenges and staff management
- Manage activities of his sector in accordance with the allocated budget
- Ensure all activities run smoothly and procedures are respected
- Understand and share the company’s vision to then be able to align operational strategies
- Work in cooperation with the different departments to optimize operations
- Manage staff, evaluate performance and oversee employee development
- Respect, understand and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to occupational health and safety
- All other work related duties
- University degree in Mining Engineering or the equivalent
- Five (5) to ten (10) years' experience in Underground Mining
- Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in leadership positions
- Bilingualism (French/English is preferrable)
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Mining Software etc.)
- Experience in Full Potential / Business Improvement
- Experience in Project Management
- Experience with Jumbo Bolting
- Experience in Short Interval Control
- Understanding of Control Room / Dispatch
