Calling Lake School
Northland School Division is now inviting applications for the role of Vice Principal at Calling Lake School for the 2024-2025 school year. The kindergarten to grade 12 school is located in Calling Lake, Alberta. This beautiful, charming community is situated on the eastern shore of Calling Lake, known for its tranquility and recreational pleasures. Calling Lake is approximately 60 kilometres away from Athabasca, Alberta and approximately 200 kilometres from Edmonton, Alberta. Major Responsibilities include:
A passion for promoting educational success for Indigenous learners, especially in their language and culture. Fluency in language and experience in the culture would be an asset.
Will work closely with the school council and the community to build relationships in order to create a positive, inviting school environment that is integrated into the life of the community.
Will actively seek local partnerships to create innovative program opportunities to engage and challenge students and promote a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Is a strong instructional leader who will work with staff to ensure that students have high quality learning experiences.
Leads by example and is active in the life of the community.
Qualifications and Requirements include:
Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Leadership Quality Standard certificate.
Must hold a Master's degree or willingness to complete a Master's degree within a mutually agreed upon timeline.
Has a minimum of 5 successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.
If you have leadership skills that can support literacy and language improvement through an Indigenous perspective at the school level and through Division goals, Northland School Division is the place for you.
