Northland School Division is now inviting applications for the role of Vice Principal at Paddle Prairie School for the 2024-2025 school year. The kindergarten to grade 12 school is located in the Paddle Prairie Métis Settlement, one of only eight legislated Métis land bases with Métis governments established in Northern Alberta, Canada, and protected by legislation. The settlement is 70 kilometers south of High Level, Alberta and 1 hour and 14 minutes north of Manning, Alberta. Major Responsibilities include:

A passion for promoting educational success for Indigenous learners, especially in their language and culture. Fluency in language and experience in the culture would be an asset.

Will work closely with the school council and the community to build relationships in order to create a positive, inviting school environment that is integrated into the life of the community.

Will actively seek local partnerships to create innovative program opportunities to engage and challenge students and promote a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Is a strong instructional leader who will work with staff to ensure that students have high quality learning experiences.

Leads by example and is active in the life of the community.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Leadership Quality Standard certificate.

Must hold a Master's degree or willingness to complete a Master's degree within a mutually agreed upon timeline.

Has a minimum of 5 successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.

If you have leadership skills that can support literacy and language improvement through an Indigenous perspective at the school level and through Division goals, Northland School Division is the place for you.
