What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will:
- lead financial statement consolidation and ensure compliance with provincial reporting requirements.
- develop and implement accounting policies, business processes, and financial reporting systems.
- provide technical leadership on risk mitigation and financial impact analysis.
- guide and train staff, and lead complex financial reporting projects.

How do I qualify?Technical knowledge and skills:- You have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, consolidation theory/practice, and financial and accounting theories/practices.
- You have knowledge of performance measurement, and financial and management processes to provide financial expertise and advice to clients and to develop/implement business processes and tools.
- You have the ability to conduct senior-level financial analysis and prepare quarterly/annual financial statements.
- You are skilled in using large-scale financial reporting systems to develop requirements, generate reports, and meet ministry and central agency standards for recording and consolidating financial data.
- You have the ability to advise senior management and stakeholders on critical financial risks and issues, lead financial statement consolidation, develop accounting policies, and manage complex reporting projects.

Analytical and problem-solving skills:- You can lead and consolidate the accurate reporting of financial statements related to revenue, expenditures, assets and liabilities.
- You can develop and maintain effective operational policies, business processes, financial information reporting systems and instructions for reporting entities.
- You can identify and manage risks involved in consolidating the budgets and actual financial results while ensuring the integrity and quality of data and providing impact assessment and issues resolution recommendations.
- You have a proven ability to evaluate trends, standards and policies using different sources of information to identify future impact to assigned programs, develop financial options and make recommendations.

Communication and interpersonal skills:- You demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to prepare materials, explain financial information, and advise management.
- You have demonstrated planning, organizational, and training skills to promote effective financial reporting and provide training on standards and requirements.
- You have demonstrated negotiation, persuasion, and facilitation skills to build effective relationships.
- You have the ability to provide strategic advice and financial expertise on critical business and reporting risks.

Leadership and project management skills:- You have proven leadership and project management skills to lead the analysis and review of assigned program components in the consolidation processes.
- You have the ability to provide financial direction for the design, development, and delivery of training on reporting processes, systems, and standards.
- You have the ability to prove financial expertise and leadership for the year-end consolidation of financial statements, into the consolidated financial statements (Public Accounts) of the province.
- You have the ability to lead the development and implementation of financial/business policies, procedures, processes, systems, and training materials.
