Parsons has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager within our Rail and Transit division. In this role you will be responsible for the scope development, scope management and commercial performance of the project to meet project goals and objectives. Plans and defines program goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your experience coordinating projects through all phases of project inception, programming, design, and closeout will propel your career and leadership opportunities forward. We need our Project Managers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments that have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills. This role would be based in the Greater Toronto Area.
Responsibilities:
The role involves managing and delivering various rail and transit projects (LRT, BRT, commuter rail) while ensuring they meet budget, schedule, and quality standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing project management leadership throughout the project life cycle including preliminary design, feasibility studies and TRPAP for large-scale transit projects.
- Review of preliminary and detailed design drawings, reviewing and supporting report-writing and proposal writing.
- Actively responding to client needs and maintaining communication including stakeholder and public engagements.
- Preparing monthly project status reports and recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Assisting with new work proposals, including teaming arrangements, budget estimates and schedules.
- Managing project scope, schedule, costs, and quality assurance. Oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
- Works with other managers, project engineers, discipline leads and sub-consultants to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
- Works with the key project individual to devise and execute action plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
- Manages the oversight of contractors performing work in the field for the collection of due diligence and construction services.
- Creating integrated project schedules and maintaining risk registers.
- Monitors and provides cost control management.
- Reviewing contractor schedules and monitoring cost controls.
- Mentoring and supervising staff while fostering a client-focused environment.
- Leading business development efforts in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or other relevant field.
- Minimum of 15 years of related work experience including 10 years of rail and transit consulting and design experience.
- Knowledge in alternate project delivery (P3, DB), and experience in teaming arrangements with contractors and consultants.
- Broad general technical and business background with experience monitoring project budgets and schedule of deliverables in a fast-paced project.
- Experienced in budget control and schedule updates.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Hold a Professional Engineering License in Ontario or in process.
- PMP designation is an asset.
- Experience with Metrolinx, TTC, City of Mississauga, City of Toronto, MTO, and other Municipalities is an asset
- Familiarity with GTA market conditions, and public and private sector client base.
- Ability to work independently as well as in groups with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, project teams, and clients.
- Excellent technical verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong desire to succeed.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with commitment to excellence and high quality work.
