Job Description:

Parsons has an immediate opening for a Senior Technical Writer within our Rail and Transit division. In this role you will support the production of project technical requirements/specifications and coordinate the integration into the construction documents. Additionally, your writing skills will be leveraged for technical inputs to proposal responses. We need our Senior Technical Writers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments and to hold exceptional communication, and organizational skills. This role would be based in the Greater Toronto Area.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop, revise, and maintain technical specifications;
  • Develop technical documents to support design, construction, contracts, and operations processes for rail and transit projects;
  • Develop and revise solicitation documents, including, but not limited to, Statements of Work, Requests for Information, and/or Requests for Bids/Proposals;
  • Prepare policy and procedure documentation;
  • Maintain the most up-to-date versions of technical standards in an orderly manner; and
  • Conduct timely technical reviews of draft documents.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Certification or degree in a related field;
  • 15+ years of writing and editing experience;
  • 5+ years of experience in preparing technical specifications and related documents;
  • Familiar with National Master Specifications and CCDC Contracts;
  • Business acumen for proposal and bid development;
  • Experience preparing contract documents with Transit Agencies in GTA (Metrolinx, TTC, Municipalities)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate multi-discipline inputs to technical reports, specifications, and proposals;
  • Experience in a variety of contract delivery models (traditional and alternative);
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to write clearly and professionally;
  • Ability to produce communications quickly, efficiently, and to a high standard;
  • General knowledge of rail transit agencies' design, construction, contracts, and operations processes; and
  • Certifications in project management will be an asset.
