Workplace: Prescott and Russell Residence
Schedule: 35 hours/week

The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and directing activities related to comprehensive basic resident care. The incumbent is responsible for supervising and evaluating the performance of nursing staff and care plan system employees. He is also responsible for ensuring the implementation and monitoring of care policies and procedures within his area of responsibility to ensure compliance with the Long-Term Care Redress Act, 2021, S.O. 2021, c. 39, Sched. 1 and O. Reg. 246/22: GENERAL PROVISIONS and all related regulations. He must mobilize his employees to foster a teamwork atmosphere, promote respect for residents and their rights, and ensure effective communication. He also oversees the documentation of care plans for personal care attendants to ensure that the Residence receives maximum subsidies based on actual case loads. He supports and carries out staff appraisals, and manages scheduling and attendance.

Requested skills

  • University degree or college diploma in nursing (RN, RPN) and acquired knowledge in a management field, such as human resources, business administration, industrial relations.
  • A minimum of two years' experience managing unionized staff, preferably in a long-term care facility.
  • Good knowledge of gerontology and nursing would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in French and English.
  • Good knowledge of the Long-Term Care Recovery Act, 2021, S.O. 2021, c. 39, Sched. 1 and O. Reg. 246/22: GENERAL PROVISIONS.
  • Know the basics of the following laws: Workers' Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Act.
  • In-depth knowledge of how to interpret and administer a multitude of regulations, laws, contractual agreements, policies, directives and collective agreements.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with human resources, accounting and scheduling software.
