What is the opportunity?

As the Director of Business Enablement, you will be a key member of our RBCx, Ventures Shared Services (VSS) Team, reporting directly to the VP of Technology. You will be crucial in providing horizontal services to the entire Venture Portfolio, underscoring its strategic importance. VSS is part of the RBCx Ventures pillar, consisting of subject matter experts in respective domains and bank frameworks who assist scaling ventures in creating value for customers by serving as a strategic and tactical partner or orchestrator related to technology planning, design development, and operations, including Finance, Cybersecurity, and Technology Risk.

The role will oversee the Business Enablement Team, which consists of Delivery Managers and Managers, Financial Planning and Reporting. You will work closely with other constituents across technology and business teams to ensure financial planning, allocation and reporting, including AppDev, Maintenance and NIE. Key Focus areas for the role include a) Venture Financial Portfolio management, including but not limited to annual budget planning allocation, and being a key point on financial matters arising with T&O, Financial Control, and RBCx FinOps teams. b) People leadership is needed to attain, retain, and enable career development and build strong leaders by nurturing top talent across multiple functions. c) Effective portfolio oversight is needed while leading a culture of continuous improvement to simplify processes/operations and improve the delivery ecosystem.

What will you do?

  • Provide oversight and reporting for Ventures Technology Portfolio - Financial, Delivery and Technology Risk.

  • Your role is instrumental in maintaining the venture tech portfolio's overall financial health and efficiency. This includes budget planning and allocation, recoveries, generics forecasting, alignment of PAR to investment, and regular reporting. Your actions directly influence the success of the entire portfolio.

  • Manage and support the financial control environment by ensuring timely and accurate posting of financial information, including pro-fee accruals from MIS, appropriate classification of initiatives between capitalized and expensed, and proper recovery of all staff in MIS.

  • As a financial leader, you are key to maintaining relationships with other T&O, Digital, and RBCx FinOps planning managers. This collaborative approach ensures consistent adherence to guidelines and processes, fostering a harmonious working environment.

  • Provide strong people leadership, recognize and reward performance, mentor direct reports, build their skills, knowledge, and abilities, and manage poor performance.

  • Regularly connects with stakeholders and Ventures SMTs to understand the strategic picture and translate that to the teams by setting inspirational goals, defining clear expected outcomes, and ensuring accountability for following through.

  • Supports the delivery managers community through coaching, best practices, tools and standards, and accelerates and enables the T&O and RBCx Strategy through change management.

  • A key focus will be elevating the end-to-end project management capabilities, evolving tooling and driving maturity in Agile delivery and supporting practitioners as we navigate the evolution of delivery (moving to Account B)

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have's:

  • Undergraduate degree in Technology, Business or Finance followed by a minimum of 10+ years of relevant industry experience, an MBA would be an asset

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing finances, budgeting, reporting, and/or performance management. Partnering closely with Finance on all aspects of spend management.

  • Detail-oriented and operationally savvy, action-oriented individual who continually strives for improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and verbal and written communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships across large organizations

  • Executive engagement, and strong People Leadership

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with vendor management/negotiating large contracts to drive savings and strong delivery models

  • Understanding of various delivery approaches, change management principles and mature scaling frameworks is a plus.

  • Technology Risk Experience and Risk mindset

  • Ability to develop content and tailor messaging and presentations for an executive audience
