What is the opportunity?

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will design, implement, and support data engineering solutions and processes across a global organization. We are seeking a Data Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in designing and developing data platforms. This role requires strong data architecture and engineering skills, effective written and verbal communication, a strong work ethic, and the ability to multi-task effectively. Additionally, you must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with a demonstrated sense of urgency to respond to changing priorities.

What will you do?

  • Work closely with the data team and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and assist in building data solutions that cater to their needs.

  • Design, develop, and support new and existing data pipelines, recommending improvements and modifications.

  • Communicate strategies and processes around data modeling and architecture to cross-functional groups. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements.

  • Utilize your expertise in data transformation techniques to enrich raw data, making it more accessible and valuable for analytics and reporting purposes.

  • Build and implement ETL frameworks to improve code quality and reliability.

  • Develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats.

  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data processing, results, and reporting.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, with a proven track record of delivering robust data solutions.

  • Extensive experience in building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.

  • Strong expertise with data technologies and tools.

  • Comprehensive experience with full end-to-end data solutions, including assessing data needs, data modeling, and data visualizations.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.

  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and NoSQL solutions, including data modeling and optimization.

  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable data architectures and pipelines.

  • Proven experience in managing data engineering teams and projects.

  • Experience in defining and building scalable ETL/ELT workflows for reporting and analytics.

  • Excellent collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt to challenges, coach, and mentor team members.

  • Strong communication and analytical skills, including conceptual thinking, requirements interpretation, solution creation, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice to Have

  • PhD or Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience working in a financial institution.

  • Experience with data governance, ensuring data quality, and compliance
