What is the Opportunity?
As the Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will lead enablement of the MLOps platform and adoption of enterprise cloud technologies to expedite automation, productionization, and delivery of AI solutions at scale for the RBC Insurance business. You will work with enterprise software engineers and data engineers to incorporate ML/AI technology into new and existing pipelines. You will also assist the data science team at RBC Insurance with building AI/ML-based solutions for the business problems through close collaboration with business stakeholders.
What will you do?
- Be innovative, a problem solver, and a fast learner capable of thinking outside the box to research, prototype and deploy ML/AI solutions to business problems with focus on scalable services and tangible outcomes.
- Be passionate for making developers and data scientists more efficient through DevOps, CI/CD, Automation, optimization, and adoption of MLOps principles and lead the implementation of DevOps and MLOps practices and tools.
- Assist the data science and software development teams with development, experimentation, productionization, and integration of the AI/ML solutions and data pipelines.
- Collaborate with enterprise technology teams to develop and reuse ML/AI solutions and adopt enterprise cloud technologies to drive GenAI uses cases.
- Produce data-driven insights and visualizations to help with informed decisions and actions by telling a convincing story and effectively communicate findings to business partners and executives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other ML engineers and data scientists in the team.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience building integrated and automated AI solutions and pipelines in production.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or relevant fields.
- Experience with leveraging MLOps, cloud computing, and data science platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Snowflake for implementation of AI, GenAI, and RAG solutions in production.
- Experience writing code in more than one programming language commonly used for backend development and experience developing and consuming Webs Services/Rest APIs in a secure fashion.
- DevOps experience with continuous integration/delivery best-practices, technologies, and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, as well as containerization tools and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
- Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams, explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and providing technical leadership and mentorship within a team.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in developing semantic search engines, AI chatbots and agents and working with conversational AI platforms
- Experience with big data technologies - parallel processing techniques and Apache Spark, NoSQL/SQL databases
- Experience developing robust data pipelines that can automate data flow from various sources into the system.
- Experience managing data scientists and engineers.
- Product ownership and stakeholder management.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
