Rocky View Schools (RVS) is a dynamic, growing school board/jurisdiction in Alberta. Situated to the east, west and north of the city of Calgaryon the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta including the Siksikaitsitapi (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Amskapi Pikuni), the Tsuutina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations (Bearspaw, Chiniki, Goodstoney), and the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3.

The Opportunity

RVS invites applications for an Area Director position at the Education Centre in Airdrie, Alberta. The position will commence based on date that is mutually agreed upon.

The successful candidate will provide enhanced support to school staff including the coordination of school operations. They will serve as the initial contact and key liaison between schools and Education Centre administration.

The Area Director responsibilities will include:

• Ongoing support to school-based administrators and staff members through regular presence in schools
• Provision of additional guidance to school-based administrators in the early stages of their administrative career
• Providing guidance to school-based administrators in all areas of educational and strategic planning for their schools and ensuring school alignment with Divisional priorities/goals
• Assisting with annual school education plan development and review
• Being the primary point of contact for school-based administrators on all aspects of school operations
• Providing guidance to school-based administrators on all areas related to procedure, policy, School Act and relevant legislation
• Providing advice and guidance for school-based administrators in relation to all student related matters
• Functioning as the first point of contact for all school related emergent issues in the school and community
• Providing supervisory expertise in all matters of staffing, including review of staffing needs
• Leading school-based administrator evaluation processes

Your Education and Experience will reflect:

• A Master's Degree in educational administration or related area
• Possession of a current Alberta Teaching Certificate
• A minimum of five or more years as a successful school-based Principal
