Your Role:
- Prioritize safety, ensuring the well-being of yourself, your team, and those around you.
- Monitor key performance indicators and strive to achieve or exceed performance goals.
- Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Balance and prioritize tasks based on urgency, effectively managing planned preventative maintenance and unplanned emergency repairs.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on schedule to maximize equipment reliability.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to facilitate effective communication and planning.
- Use tablets and computers to manage tasks and records, utilizing software such as Infor EAM or Service Channel.
- Perform electrical work frequently at heights of up to 40 feet, addressing systems on elevated platforms, conveyor structures, and high-access areas.
- Collaborate with other trades (e.g., millwrights, mechanics, contractors) to complete tasks and projects efficiently.
- Take on facility maintenance tasks as needed, including plumbing, HVAC, or carpentry-related work.
- Travel to multiple locations (e.g., Milton, Toronto, Hamilton) to provide support. A company truck will be provided; personal vehicle use may occasionally be required, with mileage reimbursed.
- Train and mentor junior team members or apprentices to develop team expertise.
- Implement improvement projects to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Occasionally work outside of regular hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.
The Qualifications We Are Looking For:
- Educational Requirements:
Completion of Grade 12 secondary school diploma, with credits in mathematics and physics. Must meet the requirements to apprentice as an Industrial Electrician under the Ontario College of Trades Apprenticeship Act (2009). - Experience:
Proven experience in a maintenance or industrial electrician role, with expertise in troubleshooting and repairing systems. - Technical Skills:
Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining:- Conveyors
- Automation controls and PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Electrical systems (600V or less)
- Materials handling equipment (MHE), including electric lift trucks
- HVAC mechanical systems and building automation systems
- Dock doors, dock levelers, and other warehouse infrastructure
- Fire suppression and alarm systems
- Safety Requirements:
Certification in Working at Heights, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and other relevant safety protocols. - Tools & Technology:
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and the ability to use tablets and computers for task management and maintenance records. - Task Management:
Strong ability to assess and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, addressing both planned and unplanned work efficiently. - Soft Skills:
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to build rapport and trust within a diverse team.
- Certifications and Other Requirements:
- Valid Industrial Electrician 442A certification (or in the process of obtaining certification).
- Valid driver’s license for travel between sites, with a company truck provided. Mileage reimbursement applies for personal vehicle use.
- Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.
