Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: September 1, 2025, until not later than June 30, 2027

Please Note: Due to the specialized nature of this position, the successful applicant, if currently a continuing appointee with Chilliwack School District, may be "seconded" to this position thereby having the assurance to return to his/her former position.

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

Please Note: The IDEA Coordinator, Sexual Health, & Inclusive Practices Collaboration Teacher will be a member of the Curriculum Department Collaboration team. This role will support SOGI resources, sexual health education, social emotional learning, and inclusive practices in schools. Specifically, the collaboration teacher will support sexual orientation and gender identity awareness and understanding for students, staff, and community.

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Maintain a current knowledge base of research in the areas of SEL, Racial Equity, SOGI, PHE Sexual Health Curriculum, and inclusive practices
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of Ministry documents, resources, and initiatives in the areas of SEL, SOGI, Racial Equity, PHE Sexual Health, and inclusive practices, as well as principles that foster learning, including First Peoples Principles of Learning
  • Possess current knowledge of issues and effective programs, support services, and classroom resources related to SEL, SOGI, Racial Equity, Sexual Health and inclusive practices for all learners
  • Collaboratively work with the FOS coordinators to support social emotional learning, including working directly with school teams, individual teachers, or administrators, providing professional learning opportunities, sharing resources, modeling lessons
  • Provide professional learning in those areas of the curriculum that identify sexual orientation and gender identity learning standards, as well as areas discussing family, roles, etc., and provide professional learning for SOGI;
  • A willingness to represent the District on committees related to SOGI; Locally, Regionally and Provincially
  • Support district commitments in Policy 313 & 360 plus Admin Procedures 356 and any new Policy and Procedures created (Racial Equity Admin Procedure Work)
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Curriculum Department team, including helping teachers, District Principals and Assistant Superintendents to support the district's understanding of Priority Work, and how to integrate them into all areas of teaching and learning
  • Work with students, staff, and families on sensitive topics in a way that honours the dignity of everyone involved, while moving forward with supportive and inclusive practices
  • Organize, facilitate and/or support various learning and community building initiatives for LGBTQ and IBPOC youth.
  • Valid BC driver's license required
