Assignment in Northern communities - Fly in/Fly out

Looking for a new opportunity in the Northern Region? We are hiring for the Inuulitsivik Health Center!

The Foster Care Department, covering the Hudson Bay coast, is seeking four (4) candidates ready to commit to a Fly-in/Fly-out mandate, following this rotation: 6 weeks in Nunavik / 3 weeks off in the south, and then repeat for an indefinite period!

Departures are planned between November 25th and December 9th for the initial 6-week period.

Start: As soon as possible

Required Qualifications:

  • DEC in Youth Correctional Intervention Techniques
  • AEC in Special Education
  • DEC in Special Education
  • DEC in Social Work
  • Valid driver’s license

Experience:

  • Experience working with families and children (mandatory)
  • Experience with vulnerable populations (multi-issue psychosocial cases) (mandatory)
  • Experience in Indigenous communities (a strong asset)
  • Experience with Youth Protection (an asset)
  • Strong ability to manage stress related to the mandate and northern living conditions (weather, water, isolation, transportation limitations, etc.)

What You’ll Do:

  • Recruit foster families
  • Conduct initial assessments, evaluations, and re-evaluations of foster families
  • Determine the best matches based on children’s specific needs
  • Provide support and follow-up for foster families
  • Travel between communities for direct support to foster families
  • Manage the family room in Puvirnituq and support service delivery
  • Verify clothing allowances for children and assist with shopping
  • Help with administrative tasks related to foster family payments, reimbursements, and payroll checks
  • Collaborate with various partners and community resources
  • Crisis intervention
  • Provide psychosocial emergency on-call services
  • Write progress notes and reports
  • Collaborate and assist with other Youth Protection services as needed (YCJA, Adoptions, RTS, Assessment-Orientation)
