Functional  Systems Specialist with proven experience analyzing business requirements, documenting system requirements, system use cases, user stories

Start Date: November 15, 2024 - June 30, 2025

Term: 7.5 Months

Extension option(s): 6 Months


Must Haves:


  • 10+ years experience in business analysis with a focus on insurance, accounts, claims
  • 10+ years facilitating agreement between several stakeholders with different opinions to obtain business requirements
  • 7+ years in an Agile environment with exposure to SCRUM, and Lean methodologies


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Guidewire products, specifically, Policy Centre and Billing Centre



Responsibilities

  1. Provide support to the technical teams and business clients throughout the enterprise by conducting in-depth analysis.
  2. Maintain effective working relationships with the business to discuss and resolve issues, understand and document current state and business and system processes, identify future needs and opportunities to fully support business data and report needs.
  3. Participate in daily SCRUMs, forums, product demos and working groups varying in scope and complexity
  4. Work on business requirement documentation, system requirements, system use cases, user stories, reports and presentation materials.
  5. Provide input/feedback for Sprint planning
  6. Fill SCRUM master role if required
  7. Perform testing activities as per defined Sprints schedule
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.


Knowledge & Skills

  1. Working with Agile practices and associated skills including user story writing and defining user acceptance criteria
  2. Working with Guidewire products, specifically, Policy Centre and Billing Centre
  3. Analyze a broadly-defined area and using functional decomposition to define high-level epics and stories
  4. Create a well-organized, value-driven framework to provide the required business value in the Product Backlog.
  5. Write individual stories that are very clear and concise and are easy to understand and implement by the development team.
  6. Identify related user stories and epics, group them into themes as necessary and document the interrelationship and associated business process flows
  7. Ability to understand complex technical concepts and present them in simple terms to non technical team members and clients.
  8. Proven experience with end-to-end business process mapping, business and technical requirements analysis, business planning, modeling, verification and methodology and product development.
  9. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  10. Analytical, evaluation and problem-solving skills, to assess client requirements and translate these into functional and information documentation (e.g. re process/IT requirements and changes).
  11. Skills include conflict management, negotiation and facilitation skills to assist in resolving issues, diffuse conflicts and handle escalated sensitive issues from team members and to alert project sponsors of serious repercussions.
